China is known for its food and Chinese restaurants were spread out of the world. Thus, no matter who you are you must visit Chinese Restaurant to enjoy a great meal. 

Here is a simple dialogue you might use in the Chinese Restaurant. Just follow them and enjoy your time. 

How to read the Chinese menu 

Chinese dishes have special names that you can't not tell what is it by looking at its names. Thus, you can ask questions like, "What does it taste like?" "Is it sour / sweet / spicy / salty?"  Most of Chinese dishes were kind of spicy and salty so we will eat with steamed rice.  In addition, Chinese people love vegetables so vagetable could be a famous dish too. 

we are going to practice basic greeting in Chinese and we can use simple sentences to make a self introduction, too. There are some useful links that teach you very basic way of asking names and saying numbers in Chinese.

We learned how to make an order in the Chinese Restaurant and we talked about the culture part in the dialogue that Dr.ZZ wrote. Now it's your turn to make a dialogue.

We will go over a Chinese menu and you have to work together to create a real dialogue.

Number is always the first thing we learned while learning a new language. I am going to introduce some easy ways that help foreigners to acquire Chinese number from one to ten. In addition, I am going to introduce a very useful website called 小豆豆学数数 where we can learn the pronunciation, the stroke-order, tone, and play some game with it. Most students would think that Chinese is super difficult but Chinese is easy to understand as long as you realize the nature of it.

First of all, as long as you know the number from one to ten, not only you can write to 99 but also you can pronounce to 99.

Secondly, you don't have to memorize those Chinese vocabularies by remembering the letters. You can activate your right brain because each Chinese character is a symbol with meaning.

Finally, just like phonics we do offer pinyin that helps foreigners to pronounce those words.

I know that there is limited time that you can practice your Chinese in class so we do have another chance for you to practice your Chinese once a week in the Interdisplinary Building Classroom 2030 on erery Thursday from 5pm to 6 pm.
