Many of you have either made the transition to an online learning environment or are in the process of doing so. Under normal circumstances, this doesn’t happen overnight, yet that’s what is being asked of you. Remember that many of your colleagues have been doing this for years and have gone through countless trainings. It’s ok to have lowered expectations—not of your students but of yourself.

If you do not have one already, please create a free account and fill in your information and demographics in your profile, this will help expedite the processing of applications.   • We’ve created an Online Community dedicated to online teaching/learning resources and support. Contribute your own ideas and resources, and discuss challenges you may be facing and potential solutions. We ask that you please continue to abide by the Online Community Code of Conduct.  Access the Community.
  • Free Access to eight (8) Virtual Learning Modules (VLMs) through June 30, 2020. Ready to use individually, as a department, or with your Professional Learning Network (PLN); titles include, “Technology in the Classroom”“Core Practices for Effective Language Learning”, and “Strategies to Guide Learners to Their Next Level”.  Access the Free VLMs.*
    • You will need an ACTFL online account to access the VLMs.  Creating an account with us is entirely free.  Existing members and account holders can simply login with the username and password from that account.  Once you’re logged in, click the “Store” button and use the “Product Type” drop down menu to select “Virtual Learning Module Series”.  You will see that there is no charge for eight of these modules, but you will need to complete the purchase process.  Once completed you will receive an email from ACTFL with a link to access the module. VLM purchases require a manual processing to complete the order. Previous day’s orders are processed the next business day. Once the order has been processed, you will be able to access the VLMs. VLMs purchased on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will not be processed until the following business day.   • Free Access to a series of recorded webinars provided by the ACTFL Distance Learning Special Interest Group (SIG). These short webinars cover topics specific to the transition to online/distance teaching. We will continue to release additional webinars in the coming days and weeks.

Learn more about the ACTFL’s AAPPL Communication Builder, a web-based tool for world language teachers and learners. Communication Builder facilitates the practice of interpersonal, interpretive and presentation modes of communication.  It is designed to complement curriculum and to extend learning beyond the physical classroom space. Teachers can produce original tasks by choosing the subject matter, language, and targeted level that best fits their learners’ needs or they can identify tasks available in the publicly shared section of Communication Builder presented by ACTFL staff members Deise Nassinhack & Michael Pereira.**
