Lantern Festival falls on Jan 15 of Chinese Lunar Calendar and it's the end of the Chinese New Year. In Taiwan, we do a lot of activities for celebrating Lantern Festival. One of the most famous activities is the Sky Lantern in Pingxi, New Taipei City.
In this class, we are going to introduce the origin of Sky Lantern in Pingxi, some wishes you can write on the sky lantern and make a sky lantern on your own. Here we go!!

Sky Lantern in Pingxi 平溪施放天燈的由來
新北市平溪十分一帶，得天獨厚因為四面環山，且平均濕度達 75-80%，多雨潮濕的天然環境，成為目前地方政府唯一認可能夠安全放天燈的地方。
清朝道光年間，在平溪一帶開墾的居民，不堪盜匪作亂騷擾聚落，而避難山中，等到危機過後，留守村內的人們以施放天燈做為報平安的信號，通知家人返鄉，後來時局安定後，就保留下來變成地方的習俗，村民也時常將祈福、許願的詞句寫在天燈上，在農曆年正月十五的元宵節施放，祈求一年所想的願望，並讓上天眾神保佑闔家平安，因此天燈又被稱為「祈福燈」或「平安燈」。
Sky Lanterns were once used as signals for villagers to let their families know they were safe and sound in Qing Dynasty but now carry people’s wishes and hopes for the new year into the night sky.

Nowadays, people will write their wishes on the sky lantern and as the sky lantern flys which means you wishes might come true.
We are going to learn some four-word idioms which we normally write on the sky lantern.

How to do it
after intoducing all the possible wishes that can be write on the lantern, students can choose four wishes and write them on the lantern.
give each students 10 minutes to finishes and they have to share their wishes by showing his/ her Lantern
