In the beginning of the semester, some English Teachers were worried about the New Taipei Singing Contest in Nomberver. They were worried about choosing the suitable song for their kids to present, picking up the right class to go with, and asking other teachers for help. As for me, I tend to see the rubrics of the evaluation first and then set up training plan for my students. Here we go.
the rubrics
1.英語發音正確性
2.音準、拍點、音樂協調性
3.表演內容生動
4.團隊精神與默契
5.表演有創意
6.上下台及觀賞秩序
some myth about singing contest
1. greeting ?
- you don't need to say "Good Morning" or "Thank you" in the beginning or in the end. Just get on and off naturally.
2. dialogue?
- you can add a few sentences rather than a dialogue in the play. Some sentences can make the judges to get into the situation.
3. volume?
- not that loud. Remember you are singing
4. some gestures or movements?
- It's okay to have SOME gestures to help students remember the song but not too MUCH.
5. PRONUCIATION like the ending sound or the linking sound in songs?
- As an English TEACHER, we should put more emphasis on it. For example, the vowel ( both long and short), the ending sound ( both voiced and voiceless) , the linking sound ( the most challenging part for all teachers)
6. musical skills ?
- Please invite a profession MUSIC teacher to help you.
7. CD player or the pianist ?
- Please invite a profession MUSIC teacher to help you.
8. Do I need to make some crafts or tools
- NO. BUT it's fun for kinds to do so.
