The university plays an important role in students’ lives for the following reasons. First, free textbooks. The textbook is very expensive in the US so either you can borrow one from the library or buy a second-hand book from ABE books or Amazon. In addition, you can go to the official website of the library where you can find some eBooks or borrow some books from other universities. Second, University Library runs for 24 hours during the weekday. Library has computers, scanners, and discussion areas for students to use. Finally, one of the best thing is that the university Library offered writing center, which can help to detect your writing problems.
The university Library is amazing and I am going to do a simple introduction of ZACH S. HENDERSON LIBRARY.
THE HISTORY OF GSU LIBRARY
Who is Zach S. Henderson? Why the library in Statesboro campus named after him?
Dr. Zach Suddath Henderson (1902-1985) was a star student and athlete in college and began his career in education as principal, coach and science teacher of Eastman High School. In June 1927, he was tapped as Dean of Georgia Normal School, a position he held until February 1948, when he became President of the College, then Georgia Teachers College. His presidency included the period in which the college was desegregated. He retired in July 1968, having served Georgia Southern for 41 years. For memorizing the great work and efforts of Dr. Zach Suddath Henderson, the brand-new library named after by his name.
The Henderson Library opened in 1975 after outgrowing the Rosenwald building. A $22.75 million expansion/renovation project began in summer 2004 and was completed in August 2008. This expansion added 101,000-square feet to the original building and included the first Automated Storage and Retrieval System in any library in the southeast. The library with over than 400 hard-wired computer workstations, access to archives of data and information, and an innovative storage solution, the Henderson Library ranks as one of the most technologically advanced in the Southeast.
