Note of CH 2 - Philosophy of Adventure Programming ( Effective Leadership in Adventure Programming ) 

 Philosophy considers the underlying principles and the ultimate real truth - vs - the ideal truth -  of the human condition 

Aesthetics is the study of form or artistic beauty, such as the inherent attraction of nature. 

Ethics is the study of conduct or moral living

Logic is thestudy of thinking or reasoning methods, involving the metaskills of judgement, problem solving, and decision making. 

Politics is the study of societ or social order theories, such as how people interact in groups

Epistemology is concerned with the methods and theories of how we know what we know, in other words, the nature and origin of knowledge

Metaphysics is concerned with the methods and theories of the way things are and the systematic investigation of reality. 

 Philosophers support Adventure Programming 

Philosophers believed that virtues, such as isdom, bravery, temperance, and justice, were key qualities for young people to acquire in order to assume leadership in an ideal society. Also, the best way for young people to obtain those virtues was through direct and purposeful experience and by being invlved in situations that impelled them into action. 

Pragmatism is the belief that the value of any learning experience is determined by the degree of learning that occur from the actions and consequences of the experience. Theories, experiences, and learning only process value if they are pratical, that is, if they can help an indivisual learn and apply new things to everyday life. 

Dewey : the idea of what determines when an experience pocesses educational value. Interaction is the ability of am experience to balance the present application of client learning, such as objective and subjective condition or external and internal conditions, so that clients are able toextract the true potntial from their experience. Continuity refers to the ability of the experience to positively contribute to the future learning of the client, that is, how well the client will be able to generalize the experience over time.
