Flagler College, housed in what was once one of Henry Flagler's most opulent Gilded-Age hotels in St. Augustine, is a private four-year college. The college opened in 1968 and now offers 32 majors, 44 minors, and two pre-professional programs. With an enrollment of 2,500 students, the college draws students from all over the world to study liberal and fine arts in this magnificent setting in the nation's oldest city.

Lightner Museum is housed in the former Alcazar Hotel built in 1888 by Henry Flagler. Today it is home to one of the finest collections of fine and decorative 19th century art in the country.

  8. The St. Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine ( FREE) 

an institution of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, is located just steps from the historic city gates of St. Augustine. This shrine is dedicated to the first Greek colony that came to America in 1768. This unique shrine is covered with exquisite Byzantine style frescoes, depicting many apostles and saints of the Christian church. Vibrant 22 Karat gold leaf highlights the frescoes and adds luxurious detail to the historical shrine.

   9. Ponce de Leon’s Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park ($18) 

the area first explored by Juan Ponce de Leon in 1513 and settled by Pedro Menendez de Aviles in 1565, historic St. Augustine is the oldest successful European settlement in the United States.

   11. The Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche at Mission Nombre de Dios (FREE) 

On September 8, 1565, Pedro Menéndez de Avilés landed and proclaimed this site for Spain and the Church. Menéndez named this site Nombre de Dios, meaning Name of God. He put Father Lopez in charge of the mission, making him the first parish priest in St. Augustine.
