Except for the training in your home country, when you arriving in the US you will stay in the host university for three days training to make sure you know the laws in the United states, you know how to do your class management in the US, and how to teach language in American style.

Day one orientation of Ohio State University 1
The first hour is introduction of Ohio state University, the facaulties, and day schedules. then, we went though a few lectures of the life and culture of American Univerisity.

 Ohio State University
OSU is founded in 1870 and the main campus is the third largest is the US with almost 60000 students enrolled. The mascot of OSU is buckeyes which is kind of tree nut.
 
 what is Fulbright FLTA program?
Fulbright is a kind of program that brought the world to the USA. For this year, Fulbright invites 54 countries to the USA whom will teach over 40 language throughout the USA. As a behalf of your cpuntry think of these questions: (take Taiwan for an example)
 
Think: on the behalf of Taiwan, what can you bring to the USA? what can you bring back to Taiwan? what do you want others to think of Taiwan when they see you? (most of countries don't realize your country so that they know your country by knowing you. "behave yourself")

The 2017 NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements, the result of collaboration between the National Council of State Supervisors for Languages (NCSSFL) and the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) guide:

  • Language learners to identify and set learning goals and chart their progress towards language and intercultural proficiency;
  • Educators to write communication learning targets for curriculum, unit and lesson plans;
  • Stakeholders to clarify how well learners at different stages can communicate

On the thid of the orientation, all the FLTAs need to do a micro-teaching that help you to fit in your teaching life in the university. each FLTA will have 2 mins to explain what your are going to teach in English and 15 mins to demostrate your Micro-teaching in your mother tounge, 3 mins feedback from other FLTAs and 2 mins for your feedback.

 farewell party - talent show
the last section of orientation is the farewell party. all the FLTAs preceed very tough days so we need to relax and present our culture to the world.
1. wear your cultural clothing
2. present one thing you can present your country like national song, folk dancing, and so on.
